Wild NEW SONG used Release!
It’s super effective!
Overused Joke fainted! Ben has no more useable jokes! Ben whited out!
Here’s a smooth cover of a track I hold very dear to my heart; one that has helped me through some tough times and is a very personal look into Dead Kennedys’ lead singer Jello Biafra’s psyche, truly showing that underneath his punky brash exterior lies a broken man, tormented by the troubles of his past.
Okay, that’s mostly lies. It’s a song about dressing up as police officers and raping a prostitute. Enjoy!

I will be doing a short gig on Friday on this brand new service called the World Wide Web.
Apparently, I can broadcast myself to other people for free. I should probably try and invent this before someone takes my idea!

Free

Would be good to see you there, there’s a chat function where you can annoy me and shout “Freebird” all night.

This is the first in a series of songs I’m covering, under the collection of The Midnight Sessions, and it’s a personal favourite of mine – Laura Marling’s Ghosts. It is a lovely little country-esque number with some wonderful block harmonies.
Oh, and this song is also an introduction to something I like to call the ‘Mum Is Asleep In The Next Room So I Should Keep My Singing Down’ voice [hence the aforementioned Midnight].
It’s all recorded at the same time, other than backing vocals, so I didn’t put any production into it… I hope you guys don’t mind.

Scene One, Take One has completely sold out! Thanks to all those who bought a copy – but FEAR NOT, the entire thing is up for download on the music page of my website. Also, all those of you who have a copy of the album, copy it, give it to your friends, direct them here. Spread the love! It’s all legal :D
Thanks for supporting me, guys, you are awesome! Keep an eye out for cool things in the very near future.

The time has come, folks! After a few days of orders, a couple of weeks of CD printing and almost half a year of songwriting, February 12th 2010 is the day that my debut album is released!
There are still a few hard copies available if you’re that way inclined, and it’s even on Amazon for only £4 – soon to be on iTunes, I’ll keep you posted – but for the grand total of £0.00, you too can be the proud owner of Scene One, Take One.
Enjoy, and keep an eye on benforbes.co.uk for new projects in the pipeline.

Dear Disassociation,
It’s finally coming, guys. Scene One, Take One, my debut album is almost in our grasp, and you can order one today! Just hit me up at ben[AT]benforbes.co.uk and tell me which number album you would like, and we can get this show on the road. It’ll also soon be available on the iTunes store and from this website, but there are only 50 physical copies! Go forth!

I’m starting the RPM Challenge today. For tl;dr – write 10 songs or 35 minutes of original music in the month of February.
You can follow my progress here, and I should come out with something pretty cool by the end of the 28 days. That’s over one song every 3 days, for the record. It’s quite a challenge to meet because you have to force inspiration upon yourself, which I think is pretty cool.
Right! Off to college to plan RP- I mean, work.

Here’s a new song, because I’ve been quite quiet on the song front lately, because of my upcoming album, Scene One, Take One. It’s another cover, and hence fits into the STSNBCOAAG [Songs That Should Never Be Covered On An Acoustic Guitar].

The song varies in name, sometimes it’s called A Bitch Called Wanda, sometimes it’s Wanda, Darling of the Jockey Club, but here it is, for your listening pleasure, Ben Forbes’ one-take live cover of Duke Special: click!
b
… or if that doesn’t show up, click here to see me do a live cover of Lemon Demon‘s awesome song, Word Disassociation. While you’re at it, why don’t you become a fan of me on Facebook or last.fm too?
Oh, and happy 2010, Disassociation.

p.s. my live page is all updated and easy to navigate now :)
